Although USB flash drives are the most popular devices when it comes to transporting data, their contents may be infected with malicious programs. A harmless flash drive can become a serious threat to an unprotected computer. When such a drive is plugged in, the system will look for commands in the stick's autorun.inf and it will execute them. If that file has been modified, it can trigger any malware on that flash drive. With Naevius USB Antivirus, you can easily prevent this from happening by creating a read only, dummy autorun.inf file. All that is required is to plug in the flash drive and click a few buttons.

The software is not free, but you can still try it out, without any restrictions. The setup file can be downloaded fast, due to its small size (1.56 Mb). Installing it on your computer will be even faster. After you set a destination path and choose what shortcuts to place, the software will be ready to go in a few seconds.

The interface features a list where USB drives will be displayed. They will be detected automatically from the moment you plug them in. A series of buttons, on the right side of the window, will let you access a flash drive's content in a standard explorer window, safely remove it or restart all the USB drives. If a device was safely removed and you don't want to plug it in all over again, clicking the Restart button will launch the autorun feature of that device.

The main feature of Naevius USB Antivirus can be launched by clicking the Protect button on the right side of the interface. You will be prompted to make sure you want to do this, several times, because it will delete all data on that drive. Like previously stated, the software will create a decoy, write protected autorun.inf file. This way, you can make sure that your system will not access a modified file which can launch dangerous applications.

Pros

Naevius USB Antivirus can protect your computer against threats that come from USB flash drives by creating a dummy aurorun.inf file. The process will be done in under a minute and it can be performed from a very simple and easy to understand interface.

Cons

The main window will always stay on top of everything and there is no way to disable this. With the simple and easy to understand features that Naevius USB Antivirus offers, you will not risk infecting your computer due to unchecked flash drives.
